9 THINGS FOR 2014

I had originally planned on including fourteen things for this post but quickly decided that that was too many things to be held accountable for and the quirk of having 14 resolutions for '14 would just have to be cast aside. So instead I settled for nine.

1. DRINK MORE WATER - I used to religiously drink countless bottles of water a day. But somewhere along the way I rediscovered soda, coffee, juice, etc. and my trusty Camelbak was left alone.

2. BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET - My mom is constantly reminding me that I am a starving college student. And to an extent, I really am. I need to stop pursuing Amazon and take fewer trips to the mall.

3. TRAVEL TO A CITY - I have lived in the state of New York for the past year and a half and I have yet to go the city. Seriously, what up with that?

4. READ! - As you might have seen, I have big aspirations for books. But I think maybe I just enjoy the novelty of having filled bookshelves?

5. WRITE! - Until the last semester of college I hadn't had to write very many essays or papers. I just think that I could benefit from writing more frequently. Brush up on my vocabulary perhaps.

6. GO OUTSIDE - This one might be difficult once I return north. But an extra dose of Vitamin D wouldn't kill me.

7. TAKE MORE PICTURES - For a while I have used the excuse that I still have a crap phone and a silly point and shoot. Enough! Just shut up and take a photo once in a while. (Also I need to be better about documentation for school projects...heh.)

8. INVEST IN A CAMERA - Yep. I said I have a silly point and shoot. And if I'm going to be studying abroad next year, I want to be able to take nice pictures.

9. LEARN TO UNPLUG - I think I would be perfectly content with spending a whole day on facebook, tumblr, and netflix. But I also think this a problem. I need to expand my horizons beyond any sort of screen.

IF I CAN'T TRUST YOU THEN DAMMIT HANNAH

This playlist is a compilation of my most listened to songs during 2013. Despite what it says above these were not all released over the past year. Although I'm sure if Fleetwood Mac put out Gypsy this year it would certainly be at the top of the charts. It's also unfortunate that Vampire Weekend didn't make the mix. If they did I would just drop their whole dang album in there so I figured I would give the others a fighting chance. Ezra, you did it again. Modern Vampires of the City was the creme de la creme.

THE ALMOST BOOKWORM

I must confess that I absolutely love hanging out in bookstores, going to the library, or adding more titles to my amazon wishlist. But ironically enough, I am not a reader. I almost feel sorry for the books that I bring home and add to my shelves because they will most likely just sit there and wait patiently for nothing to happen. In all honesty, they're lucky if I make it halfway through their pages. But as the story goes every January, I must say that this year will be different! I will read...something! Here are my picks to read over the course of 2014.
1. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
3. Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
4. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling
5. On Looking: Eleven Walks with Expert Eyes by Alexandra Horowitz

THE FIRST

Hello world. This is the first post. I'll let you in on a secret. *whispering voice* When I get bored, and this frequently happens over the summer or on school breaks, I gawk at the many blogs I follow and envy their design and content. So after half a month of being home alone with the internet I am launching this guy. I figured a new year called for a new blog. I'm not really sure what is going on here but here's to hoping it sticks.
